Feeding Platform

Overview

There are people unable to eat by mouth and need the assistance of a feeding pump and formula to receive nutrients. My company developed a web-based software application to enable providers to monitor patient formula prescription adherence.

When I joined the team, the first iteration of the feeding platform was already in progress.

The Problem

The Dashboard and Patient List pages are difficult to tell apart and a lot of information for providers to sort through.

Providers need to find information quickly in order to provide the best care to their patients.

My Hypothesis

The Dashboard page could be an opportunity to give doctors a high-level view of patients, prescriptions, pumps, and problems at a glance to help them prioritize their workload.

Discovery & Key Findings

I conducted user studies to determine the most important information to include on the Dashboard.

  • Prescription adherence and weight are used to prioritize patient follow-up.
  • Each provider has unique numbers considered "good" or "bad."

Usability Study

I conducted a usability study asking participants to perform specific tasks and give overall thoughts on the usefulness of features and data.

Results & Outcomes

  • Visually differentiated the Dashboard and Patient pages to clear up confusion on the purpose and functionality of each page.
  • Used informational graphics for clearer visual hierarchy of information and easier readability.
  • Created a feature to enable doctors to customize thresholds for grouping patients.
